Quick update:

As I mentioned in previous post, the birthday party at the park came off great despite the thunder, lightning and cooler temps.  The weather was cooler than we hoped but the thunder and lightning had moved on just prior to the party. While the parents were shivering in our coats, the kids were running around like banshees, playing on the swings and slides and covering every inch of concrete with drawings using sidewalk chalk.  Once the kids had some ice cream cake, you could have powered a nuclear submarine off of that energy if you could contain it!

It is Brigid’s high school reunion this weekend so that should be a lot of fun.  Heading out Friday mid-morning and yes, we will be packing laptops w/DVD and backup laptops w/DVD and headphones to keep the kiddo occupied for the 5.5 hour trip.  It worked out great the last time so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will work again.

I have forgotten to mention that the folks that run the local convenience store at the lake have hoisted their Gadsden flag on their flag pole.  It is great to see the “Don’t Tread on Me” banner flying high every time I drive past.  I also noticed the other day that the proprietor has printed out some of Oleg Volk’s great self-defense posters and has them taped un the glass counter top.  I am happy to pay a little more per gallon for gas now at their pumps.

Ok, have a great weekend everybody and take care.

Birthday Party

Party came off without any hitches although it was cooler out than we had planned so, no balloon toss!  More info later.

Bad Timing

No one loves the sound of thunder and the sight of lightning more than I do but NOT today, not on the day that my girlfriend has scheduled her 6 year old daughter's birthday!

She took off earlier to stake a claim to the one and only shelter at the park - lay out the table spread, put up a couple of balloons. leave a few camp chairs there to make it look like there is going to be a party starting at any minute and hope that it is all still there at 1:30 when the other kiddos start showing up.

Back-up plans? Yes, we have back-up plans and back-up plans for the back-up plans but the little park is perfect.

I will let you all know how it ends up - keep your fingers crossed!

Over and out.
