Oh yeah!! - forgot to link to this great photo of Condi "#44" Rice on Blaster's Blog. Via Instapundit. My new desktop wallpaper!
Beautiful day here - 60 degrees and sunny - but I have a feeling that we haven't seen the last of the winter weather yet.

Busy at work, lots of big and small projects are keeping me very busy.

I have ordered my copy of Neal Stephenson's 3rd book finally. I was hoping to catch it on sale somewhere, but I can't wait. I got a pretty good deal on it through Amazon though, so that is ok.

Have you checked out the new Google Map? Damn, that is one fine map! Easy to use, very nice looking and it has the power of Google behind it. Try this search for "pizza near Olympia WA" - very, very cool.

I found a couple of great articles online that explain the technology behind the map - "Google Map Pushes the Envelope" and "Telcontar's Secret Success: What's Under the Hood?"

Telcontar provides the data and the technology behind MapQuest, Yahoo maps and others, but Google is going to blow those guys away with their new stuff - even though it is basically the same data and tools provided to the other map sites - Google's engineers found ways to make it easier to use, they made it faster (notice the small images that come up as you zoom in/out or pan, that makes it FAST - like the TerraServer and KeyHole - which Google bought out too) and it is definitely more pleasing to the eye - very simple and clean. The routing and direction-providing tools and map output is so much better than the other maps currently available, there is just no way MapQuest, etc., will be able to compete.

Buy Google stock if you can! Just my opinion.....

Ok, I am going to sign off. Take care and have a great Friday!

Beautiful Monday - blue skies, 56 degrees, sun is shining and it is a holiday! Like I said, it has been a while since I had a job with actual holidays off, so I am liking this. But, I did go into work today, but it was only for 2 out of the three jobs I have right now. I am thinking I could fit another one in during the evenings - my little Saturn would look good with a Domino's Pizza sign on the roof!

So, not having to work today, I stayed up late watching movies last night - I watched "Ray" - which was outstanding and "Saw" which was a great movie too but I wouldn't recommend it unless you liked the movie "Seven" or if you enjoy Slipknot and Nine Inch Nails music videos. Pretty graphic stuff, but good twists and turns - make sure you have a pillow handy if you watch it.

Ok, I am going to finish my day by doing some dishes (yes, it will take the rest of the day) and getting some laundry done. Oh, the new Cabelas Spring catalogs arrived this week - fly fishing and bass fishing gear - oh yeah!

Take care!
