Hey,

THANK YOU to everyone that donated to the Spirit of America!!! We made $6560 that is going to buy books and sewing machines and help the Marines and Sea Bees help rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan and many, many more wonderful projects. Thank you!

Ok, returning to normal blogging stuff now.

Christmas is getting close! I have a couple of big packages that are going out via UPS tomorrow and I need to finish wrapping them tonight. Had a Very Large Mystery Package at my door tonight when I got home and I have some questions about it and have sent out appropriate emails trying to figure it out.

Not sure if I have mentioned this on the blog at all, but I HAVE A NEW JOB!! Yes, I have taken a job with an agency that is just a fantastic opportunity and I can't wait to start. I am still going to maintain part-time status at the gun store and do a little web development and also maintain my contract IT gig for 6 more months. This Spring will be busy one for me and I can't freaking wait! It is hard to explain how good it feels and my friends and family have been so supportive and encouraging over the past few years (yes, YEARS) after I got laid off. It has been a long, hard trail but like they say, what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. I feel like I have received an award!

There were times when I honestly just wanted to give up. Truck repo'd - twice, eviction notices on the house, power and water turned off numerous times and damn, it was hard. I still have some bills to get paid off and some loans to pay back, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Without the encouraging words and support from my family and friends, without inspiration and understanding and love from my parents, my grandparents, my brother and my friends - it would have been very easy to give up.

Kind of an interesting Paul Harvey-ish thing - the week I was offered the new job was the same week, three years ago, that I was laid off. Cool, huh?

Ok, I need to get to bed. I hope everyone is having a great week and that you are getting all of your shopping done! Take care and talk to you soon.

Jason

Last day for the Friends of Iraq Blogger Challenge to support the Spirit of America and the fantastic projects they are undertaking in Iraq and Afghanistan. Todays Fighting Fusileer of Freedom team member post is by Mick over at Intellectual Intercourse and is titled Bomb Them With Love.

The fund raising effort ends tonight at midnight and if you haven't already, and even if you have, please drop (another) $10, $20 or even $500 into the donation kettle. Every little bit helps and you can rest assured that your donation is going to a great cause. We have $6335 in the bank at the moment and really want to push it up to $10,000 tonight. Please pass the link along to any friends or family who can make a donation and thank you again for all the donations!

Monday - no blogging over the weekeend because work was busy all day Saturday and we had the gun store Christmas Party afterwards. Lots of food and I ate way too many meatballs. Sunday was busy too with a little trapshooting in the high winds which made it pretty exciting. That is a great way to practice quick shots - you have to get them right out of the trap house. After trap shooting, a quick trip to Costco for some supplies then over to a house warming/Christmas party that lasted until 10 or so. More meatballs and little smokies. My stomach hurts.

I am not even going to say anything about the damned re-count going on in Washington. The King County re-count is rigged and no matter what we (the Republicans) do, they will find a way to manufacture a win for Gregoire. The re-count process/procedure is apparently very loosey-goosey, there is no chain of evidence and oh, by the way, they just found another 560 some votes in some desk drawer some where. Sonsabitches. The whole damned thing stinks to high heaven and I just don't even want to talk about it anymore. @#ckers.

Ok, on to some good news. The Fighting Fusileers for Freedom are still plugging away in the Spriti of America Challenge and the amount raised is up to $5445 as of this writing. We still have a few days to go and I hope you can find another $20 to toss in the pot to help the folks of Afghanistan and Iraq. Please donate here. Fighting Fusiller of Freedom Team Member The Last Amazon has a wonderful post up today on can-do spirit - make sure you hop over real quick and check it out.

Ok, I am going to watch the rest of the ball game and hope the Chefs, er, Chiefs can pull this one out.
