More good reads for today:

Emperor Misha (of course) - read this one (great comments by Orion) and that one, hell, read em all!!

ALL of Kim du Toit's stuff is good, but I like this one for today.

This is what it is all about. Mrs. du Toit has the Declaration of Independence.

Ravenwood is clear and to the point with this one.

And Frank has some great links.

Michele at A Small Victory, great stuff, great links.

Wrap up your blog surfing with a spirited sing-a-long with Dr. Frank and Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy .

Now, I am off to BBQ some chicken, catch some fish, drink a few beers, eat some coleslaw and beans and potato salad and then to blow some stuff up when it gets dark. Happy Birthday America.

PS. - Did you read Bill Whittle's "Trinity" yet? gotDAMN he is good!!!

Saw this on NRO's site and my mom passed it along to me also, so I finally did it - I submitted the pic of Sage (to the left there, can't miss it) to the DogNoses.com site - now if we can get Rachel to submit Sunny and Digger's photos, all will be right in the world!!

Before you light the fire crackers or cook any hotdogs, (make sure to bring the dog in first though,) sit down and read Bill Whittle's latest essay - Trinity. What a wonderful gift on a wonderful day. Thank you Bill Whittle.

Happy Birthday America!

God Bless America.
Land that I love
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies ,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America
My home sweet home.

God Bless America,
Land that I love
Stand beside her,
And guide her,
Through the night
With the light from above,
From the mountains,
To the prairies,
To the ocean,
White with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home

Remember all of those times that you got screwed at the drive-through? You place your order, pay for it, then pick it up (instead of looking in the bag, the bag "feels" right, there is NO way that they can screw you again, is there?) then you drive home that 10 or 15 miles, open the bag and they forgot the most important thing? Tater tots from Sonic? A burrito from Taco Bell? Onion Rings from Dairy Queen? Seems like it always happens to me EVERY FREAKING TIME.

Well, last night, Taco Bell hooked me up. I must have been screwed out of $40 bucks worth of food over the past year from them and last night when I got home, it wasn't an extra $40 bucks worth, it was more like an extra $10 bucks worth, but it sure made me feel better. In fact, Sage was most grateful to Taco Bell for the extra grub although she has spent most of the day outside with some serious gas.

The weather here is gorgeous. About 75 or so today, big, fluffy Simpson's-type clouds floating over. The hay in the field behind my house has been cut, raked and baled and the air is saturated with that sweet, fresh-cut hay smell. There are baby birds in two nests at the front of my house and today must be "get out of the nest" day because there is all kinds of squeaking and squawking going on and lots of funny-looking, big-eyed little birds flitting about.

The next two days will be fun - a friend of mine has a son who started a band - long story short - they played last week and the guy who set up and ran the sound equipment asked the band to play tomorrow at a July 4th celebration. Cool. These kids are only 14 years old and sound great, write their own songs and already have quite a following. On Friday, there is a cookout scheduled at the lake, so that should be a good time too.

Well, I need to get back to writing a cover letter for a state job. Talk at y'all later.
